Meet Dr. Melinda Gooderham
Dr. Gooderham is a Dermatologist and Medical Director at the SKiN Centre for Dermatology and SKiN Laser Clinic. She is an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and also works as a Consultant Physician at the PRHC. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Board Certified in the United States.
She received her MD from the University of Western Ontario in 1999, and then completed her Dermatology residency at the University of Toronto in 2004. Prior to training in medicine, Dr. Gooderham obtained a Bachelor of Science from Queen's University in Kingston in 1992, and a Masters of Science from the University of Guelph in 1995.
Dr. Gooderham is actively involved in teaching medical students, nurse practitioners and physicians both with didactic lectures and hands-on clinical teaching. She belongs to a number of professional societies including:
- Canadian Dermatology Association
- American Academy of Dermatology
- European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
She continues to upgrade her skills by attending numerous medical conferences and training sessions throughout the year to keep informed of recent advances in Dermatology.
She is responsible for opening the first Comprehensive Dermatology Centre in the Kawartha Region, which includes a state-of-the-art Phototherapy, and Psoriasis Treatment Centre, Dermatology Research Centre, Patch Test Clinic and now a Laser Clinic for many cosmetic laser and aesthetic dermatology procedures.
She has learned the ability to balance her personal and professional life, as she and her husband raise three children. When not at work, Dr. Gooderham enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.
