BOTOX available to our clients in the Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg, Oshawa and Belleville region.
The SKiN Laser Clinic is a provider of Botox, which is a common name used for botulinum A toxin.
Botulinum A toxin is an acetylcholine release inhibitor and a neuromuscular blocking agent. The drug is applied for cosmetic denervation purposes. Untreated muscles continue to work normally.
What to expect?
Botox is applied by intramuscular injection. A tiny micro needle is used to inject a small amount of the drug into the desired locations. The discomfort is typically minimal and no sedation or local anesthetic is required.
Some patients experience redness and/or swelling that disappears within a couple of hours of treatment. Others may experience bruising at the Botox injection site. (This can be treated with ice and covered with make-up.)
The medication can sometimes migrate, causing temporary weakness of nearby muscles. Rarely there can be drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. The risk of any side effects depends on the muscles injected. Because Botox effects are temporary, side effects are temporary as well.
